ISN Beijing 2008
The third ISN Special Neurochemistry Conference, Beijing 2008
8th International Meeting for Brain Energy Metabolism
“Neurodegeneration and Regeneration”
The International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN) is pleased to invite you to its third ISN Special Neurochemistry Conference, to be held in Beijing, China. This is the first time the ISN is holding a conference in China.
Our aim is to offer a program of interest to neuroscientists, postdoctoral fellows, trainees and graduate students and to enable them to establish contacts and collaboration between outstanding researchers from different fields. The program will comprise of presentations by leading authorities from around the world and integration of these scientists with Chinese neuroscientists will produce important developmental bridges between all participants.
The four and a half day (with one free half day to visit the Great Wall and the city) conference will bring together neurochemists from the scientific community worldwide to highlight the latest developments that have enhanced our understanding of brain energy metabolism related to neuro-degenerative diseases (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, cerebrovascular diseases), and on neuro-regeneration. There will be twelve sessions ranging from the role of glycogen, ammonia metabolism and toxicity, mitochondria function and dysfunction, neuro-degeneration, neuro-regeneration etc. There will be plenty of opportunity for informal discussions during breaks, lunches, a welcome reception, and the social event.
We are delighted to welcome you to Beijing, one of the culturally rich capitals of the world, home to five world heritage sites. It has a fantastic blend of historical tourism sites and modern 21st century technology and lifestyle. From the world famous Great Wall to the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and the Summer Palace, Beijing has it all and much more. Delegates and their accompany persons attending the Congress will have the opportunity during their stay to tour various historic sites, experience the unique culture and savor differences in regional cuisine.
The conference will be held in Fragrant Hill Hotel, designed by the world famous architect, I.M. Pei. It is a four star hotel located in the famous scenic spot Fragrant Hill Park. Each guest room opens onto a courtyard. The hotel style won it a prize by the American Architects Institute in 1984. The hotel is located 20 km from the city and it is not far from the Summer Palace and other key historic sites not to be missed.
We are planning an exciting congress that is not to be missed and hope that you will make definitive plans to participate. I am looking forward to meeting you in Beijing in June, 2008 at what promises to be a stimulating and enjoyable event!
